Itinerary

Machupicchu is one of the most outstanding jewels of the Inca culture, called the lost city of the Incas, it is an incredible sample of the Andean civilization, making the tour of the mythical Inca Trail an unforgettable experience.

Currently, this road is covered with blocks of rock carved with stairways and tunnels, coupled with wooden structures and bridges, which cross rivers, temperate valleys, warm cloud forests, and cold Andean heights. For your visit, we develop the following program:

Inca Trail in five minutes

  • DISTANCE WALKED ON DAY 1: 12 kilometers
  • HIKING TIME: 05 to 06 hours
  • MINIMUM ALTITUDE: 2600 masl.
  • MAXIMUM ALTITUDE: 3000 masl.
  • DIFFICULTY: Easy to moderate

Day 01: Cusco– Piskacucho- Patallacta – Ayapata

  • We start the adventure by picking you up at your hotel to join the travel group you will share along the way.
  • Board the bus to go to the town of Ollantaytambo (duration 01 hour 30 minutes). In this place the porters and the cook will join the group who will be the companions of services throughout the route.
  • Then continue traveling on the same bus to KM. 82, starting point of the trek to Machupicchu.
  • Once passing the entrance control, you will start an ascent walk for 02 hours to the archaeological remains of Patallacta, a place that was a checkpoint in the time of the Incas, continue one more hour on the way and arrive at the first point of lunch.
  • After lunch you will walk 02 hours more until you reach our camp place in Ayapata (3,000msnm.), accommodation in their respective tents.
  • Dinner and rest surrounded by the stillness of the mountains.
  • DISTANCE TRAVELED: 16 kilometers
  • HIKING TIME: 07 to 08 hours
  • MINIMUM ALTITUDE: 3000 masl.
  • MAXIMUM ALTITUDE: 4200 masl.
  • DIFFICULTY: Moderate to strong (challenge)

Day 02: Ayapata – Warmihuañusca (Dead Woman)-Runkuraqay- Chaquicocha.

  • Very early you should wake up and have breakfast prepared by our cook, then you will start the walk-up steep stairs to the sector of LLulluchapampa, (3,800), very brief rest to take your coca tea and an energizing snack.
  • Continuing the ascent, you will head towards the Abra de Warmiwañusca (4,200), arriving you will stop to rest and enjoy the surrounding beauty, you will observe the most beautiful landscapes surrounded by Andean snow-capped mountains.
  • After a short break we begin descent through a winding forest to reach our second stop and taste lunch, prepared by our cooks.
  • After lunch again begins the ascent to the second high point of the route, after 02 hours we arrive at Runkurakay, (4,000) where you can observe beautiful landscapes with waterfalls.
  • You will continue the walk until you reach Sayacmarka, where you can have a break and rest since it is the day of greatest effort due to the number of hours and how difficult it is to go up and down mountains.
  • Finally, at the end of the afternoon you can watch the sunset in the Vilcabamba mountain range, you will arrive at the second camp of Chaquicocha (3,600 masl)
  • Dinner and rest.
  • DISTANCE TRAVELED: 16 kilometers
  • HIKING TIME: 08 to 9 hours
  • MINIMUM ALTITUDE: 2650 masl.
  • MAXIMUM ALTITUDE: 3900 masl.
  • DIFFICULTY: Moderate to strong

Day 03: Chaquikocha -. Wiñaywayna.

  • Refreshing breakfast to start the hike around 06 a.m.
  • This day is also long but very beautiful as you can observe the change of landscape, enter a cloud forest of low jungle, on the way you will have the privilege of seeing the highest mountain that is the Salkantay, our next stop will be Phuyupatamarka. (3600mts) from this place you will walk about 4 hours until you reach our last camp of Wiñayhuayna, last lunch on the way.
  • Finally, after lunch you can visit Wiñayhuayna (3,000mts) considered another of the most beautiful Inca enclosures of the Inca trail 3,000 meters above sea level. You will visit the place; our guide will give you all the most relevant information of the area then you can take a restful rest to prepare for the next visit of Machupicchu.
  • The dinner will be prepared very special since it will be the last place you can share and have the company of all the staff who work to make your experience unforgettable.
  • Finally, they should rest early since the next day will be to wake up very early, rest.
  • DISTANCE TRAVELED: 6 kilometers
  • HIKING TIME: 3 to 4 hours
  • MINIMUM ALTITUDE: 2050 masl.
  • MAXIMUM ALTITUDE: 2650 masl.

Day 04: Wiñayhuayna – Puerta Del Sol -Machupicchu – Cusco.

  • Very early you will have breakfast, and then start the last walk of almost 04 kilometers with a duration of 02 hours, on the route you can see a variety of flora and fauna, beautiful orchids.
  • The next stop will be the Intipunku or Puerta del Sol which is located at 2490 meters above sea level.
  • The exciting thing about this end is gratifying, arriving at the wonder of the modern world MACHUPICCHU, after 04 days of effort and eagerness to see culminating our unforgettable journey.
  • You can see the entire extension that encloses our Sanctuary of Machupicchu, the mountain of Huaynapicchu.
  • Around 07:30 you will arrive at the control gate to enter the Citadel of Machupicchu
  • Guided tour of the most important places of the citadel, you can visit some more places for a short time.
  • At the indicated time you must go down by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes to share the last lunch in the town of Aguas Calientes.
  • Normally in the afternoon you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo, the tickets will be delivered by our guide with the respective indications of transfers.
  • Arriving in Ollantaytambo after 01:45 of travel, you must board the car for your return to the city of Cusco, directly to your hotel.
  • Includes :
    • One night before departure, meeting with the guide to receive information necessary for the development of the walk.
    • Transfer by private bus from the Hotel in Cusco, or Ollantaytambo to kilometer 82 Piscacucho.
    • Entrance to the Inca Trail and the Sanctuary of Machupicchu. (We take care of obtaining the corresponding permits to ensure the departure date, as was the advance reservation)
    • Professional guide specialized in this route in bilingual language (Spanish and English), they will be our best informants of our millenary culture.
    • Fresh food (3D, 4A, 3C – Daily snack, boiled water.) (Vegetarian option)
    • Porters (personnel in charge of carrying food and camping equipment). They will be our very valuable support staff, because thanks to them everything will be in place upon arrival at each camp.
    • 01 porter to carry personal luggage (Maximum 06 kilos per person, including sleeping bag)
    • Cook and kitchen assistant (who are responsible for preparing food along the way, these staff is properly trained to prepare food with all the necessary care.
    • The water will be provided daily from the first lunch to the last breakfast, the water will be boiled and filtered, we recommend carrying a container.
    • First aid kit, oxygen balloon. (All guides in general are properly trained to help situations that arise along the way)
    • Camping Equipment (Tent for 02 people, Dining tent, Kitchen tent,)
    • Mat or insulation for the floor, a blanket for the cold, a pillow, bag to store your belongings during the Inca trail, which you will not be able to access, only until the time of the camp.
    • Bus ticket down from Machupicchu to the town of Aguas Calientes.
    • Return train in Expedition service from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo.
    • Bus back from Ollantaytambo to Cusco.
    • Transfer to the hotel in Cusco.
  • Not Included:
    • Sleeping bag, (you must consider that on the road you have temperatures below 0)
    • Canes (we recommend always carrying them to ensure support in some places)
    • Personal porter. If you need a carrier for your exclusive service, it has an additional cost.
    • Travel Insurance. (We recommend getting them in your country, as it is a Adventure travel that includes more risks than the average trip. Insurance is a way to protect your person for any eventuality)
    • Entrance to the Huaynapicchu Mountain (If you wish you must add $ 75.00 to the price). To reach the top you must make a 45-minute walk, which will start from a dense forest followed by ascent by stairs. Reservations must be made at least 02 months in advance, due to the popularity of this venue. This route is done independently without the guide who accompanied them on the Inca trail)
    • Hotel in Cusco or Aguas Calientes.
  • Important Information:
    • The reservation must be made, at least 06 months in advance, this to guarantee entry on the date provided by the reservation, since daily there are only 500 spaces dosed in visitors, support staff and guides.
    • To proceed with the reservation requires all personal information (copy of passport) sent together with the reservation.
    • The Inca Trail reservation is NOT transferable, it is NOT refundable.
    • If you wish to climb the mountain Huaynapicchu must be communicated at the time of booking the Inca Trail, you should also consider an additional $ 75.00 dollars to the price of the Inca trail.
    • If you wish to stay one more night in the town of Aguas Calientes, you must inform at the time of booking to consider the return of the train on a later day than normally stipulated (optional).
  • What we advise to bring:
    • Small backpack to carry the necessary objects for the day.
    • Light clothing (long-sleeved polo shirts, comfortable and lightweight walking pants, socks a pair for each day)
    • 01 waterproof jacket, to protect from the cold and wind on the road.
    • Rain poncho for some case since the weather in this area is very unpredictable.
    • A pair of hiking boots, sandals
    • Special hiking hat or cap
    • Sunscreen, personal hygiene equipment.
    • Flashlight with extra batteries.
    • Camera with extra batteries
    • Mosquito repellent.
    • Personal medicines if required by the visitor. (This information must be included at the time of booking to take the corresponding care)
    • Money in soles or dollars for any purchase you wish to make along the way.
  • Considerations:
    • The porters carry camping equipment, supplies for food preparation, but you must carry your belongings, considering only for 04 days of walking, since the level of walking is moderate to strong.
    • We recommend having good physical health since making the walk demands an important effort, if they have any special medication they should consult in advance and mention the guide to take the forecasts of the case.
    • We provide fresh and varied food, delicious meals prepared by our chefs, with extensive experience in mountain routes, considering the vegetarian option.
    • We work with qualified personnel in tourism from Cusco, with English language proficiency.
    • Each person is granted assistance with their 7kg/15lb luggage, including insulation, and sleeping bag, for which they are provided with travel bags to be transported by the porters.
    • To make the reservation we require a deposit of $ 250.00 dollars, which is not REFUNDABLE for any reason under any circumstances.
    • Once the income to the Inca Trail has been acquired, this is not TRANSFERABLE nor is any change admitted, except for an error in a number or letter of the personal data of the traveler.
    • If you wish to cancel the service, your deposit is not REFUNDABLE, under any circumstances.
    • We understand that in the course of time there could be some impediment to make the trip, whether accident, death, vacation time, etc. In this case we regret to inform that there is no consideration for the cancellation of the tour, because we abide by the guidelines of the entity that grants us the permits to enter the Inca trail. (Regulation of the Inca Trail according to law 26834 issued by the government.)
    • On the route to the Inca trail and the visit to Machupicchu there are no exceptions, if there is cancellation it is considered loss of the space obtained.
    • Many people want to make this adventure, therefore, making the reservation in advance guarantees their permits and the organization of the entire service.
  • Booking Forms:
    • Regarding payment, we offer you different options, taking into account your comfort, paying online ensures your services, you can pay through our website using any type of debit or credit card – when using online payment, you must add to the total a commission of 2.9% this for reasons of service for the money transfer through commercial banks.

    • To book the Machu Picchu tour, we request a deposit of 250 US dollars per person to ensure the income to the citadel and at the same time the train tickets for Machu Picchu, in this way, we guarantee the date and time of your next visit, the remaining balance must be paid up to 24 hours before the start of the tour. If you choose to pay the balance by card, in our office located in Cusco, a commission of 3.9% will also be applied.
